An Accra High Court has fined one Charles Kwesi Graham, popularly known as Kwasi Alhaji, and another, Mr Anthony Annan, alias Nii Bokorbokor 400 penalty units for threatening to cause harm to the Ankobeahene of Gomoah Fetteh, Nana Kofi Ahomka.
As a result, the two were charged to pay 400 penalty units each, in a judgement delivered by the court, presided over by Justice Mary M.E. Nsekyire (Mrs), on January 26, 2021.
The court found Kwasi Alhaji and Nii Bokorbokor guilty of conspiracy to cause harm to Nana Kofi Ahomka.
Kwasi Alhaji, who is a Real Estate Developer and resident of Kasoa, while Nii Bokorbokor has been described as traditional ruler and resides at Ablekuma, were equally ordered by the court to sign a bond of good behaviour for 24 months or in default serve five years imprisonment.
The court came to this conclusion when Nana Kofi Ahomka, who is a businessman and Ankobenhene of Gomoah Fetteh, in the Central Region, complained to the Kasoa Police that sometime in August 2015, Kwasi Alhaji allegedly called him on his cell phone and threatened to murder him, if he stepped foot in Gomoa Fetteh.
In addition to this, the prosecution also told the court that on August 28, 2015, Nana Kofi Ahomka was allegedly attacked by Kwasi Alhaji and Nii Bokorbokor, together with some other persons wielding pump action guns, locally manufactured pistols, cutlasses and sticks.
The incident was said to have happened after Nana Kofi Ahomka, together with three others, had gone to Gomoah Fetteh Township to pour libation at the family Stool House to mark a successful year.
According to the facts presented to the court, Nana Kofi Ahomka allegedly sustained serious injuries due to the attack and in the process lost two of his teeth, injury on his left eye and subsequently lost consciousness.
The prosecution further told the court that while Nana Kofi Ahomka was helpless on the ground, the supporters of Kwasi Alhaji and Nii Bokorbokor made away with his money and mobile phone that were in his pocket.
It was also the prosecution’s case that Nana Kofi Ahomka was quickly rushed to the Kasoa Central Clinic for admission and treatment, while the matter of the attack was also reported to the Ojobi Police Station.
The prosecution charged Kwasi Alhja and Nii Bokorbokor with the offences of threat of death, conspiracy to cause harm and causing harm to Nana Kofi Ahomka, but the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Nsekyire acquitted the two of causing harm, since there was no credible evidence on record that they caused harm to the complainant.
