The Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Tahiru Issahaku Moomin, in the Upper West Region have commissioned a six (6) Unit classroom block for Fongo E/A primary School.
The MCE, who charged both pupils and teachers to protect the facility, said the project was in line with the government’s agenda to provide quality education at zero or minimum cost at various stages of the educational level.
The facility which have boosted the school infrastructure in terms of classrooms was funded by the District Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT), at the cost of GHC 300,942.33.
The MCE appealed to the school authority to ensure good culture of maintenance for the new classroom block so that it can last longer.
He admonished the students to take advantage of the facility, adding that, it was not just about classroom but how well the students are able to make good use of the classroom.
Hon. Issahaku lamented the poor prep attendance as well as the high level of indiscipline among students.
The Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), Alhaji Zakaria Sidiki, said the facility had come at a good time, and would help address the shortfall in infrastructure in the Municipality which has resulted from increased enrolment in schools in the area within the last three years.
He also indicated that the facility would go along way to enhance teaching and learning and also provide the children with a conductive teaching and learning atmosphere.
Alhaji Sidiki commended the assembly and appealed for more of such facilities within the municipality.
