The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkawkaw Constituency, Joseph Frimpong, has urged the Nkawkaw-based Akroma Mining Company to help in the development of the communities it operates in.
Even though he paid glowing tribute to the Nkawkaw-based mining company, he was quick to urge management of the company not to shirk its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and support to its operational areas.
Joseph Frimpong made this statement when he paid a working visit to the mining company at Old Esaase, a suburb of Nkawkaw, on Monday 1st March 2021.
The purpose of the courtesy call was to have interactions with the management of the company, as to how best the constituency, which is endowed with mineral resources, can benefit more, and also to familiarise himself with the company’s activities.
Joseph Frimpong seized the occasion to admonish them to keep their environment clean and safe from all forms of activities that will jeopardise the living standards of the neighboring communities.
In attendance were the Constituency Chairman, Osei Kwame Dankwah, Noah Brako, 2020 Campaign Team Coordinator, Morrison Nyarko, Aide to the MP in-charge of media, party faithful and sympathisers.
The MP assured his constituents of his readiness and commitment to deliver on the promises he made to them prior to the 2020 elections, and called on the constituents to help him.
Mr. Frimpong observed that some communities in the constituency need bridges and promised he would personally fund the projects, as well as mobilising the people through communal labour to support.
He promised to establish a compost plant at Obomeng to generate electricity for the community, as well as turning fecal matter into organic fertiliser for farming purposes. This, he said, will serve as a source of employment to the unemployed youth in the area.
Mr. Frimpong disclosed that he had met with the Forestry Commission over plans to embark on an afforestation program to provide employment for the youth, through financial support between 5 to $10 million secured from the World Bank.
