The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Dormaa East in the Bono Region, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Agyemang, has assured his people their sanitation problems would be solved this year.
He was responding to concerns raised by some Assembly members and people in the district about sanitation issues.
The Assembly Member for Dome Agogo electoral area in Dormaa Akwamu, Mr. Dennis Oppong Kyeremeh, had appealed to the Assembly to ensure the contractor completed a toilet project in time for use, and to help remove a refuse dump that posed a health threat to the people.
The DCE noted that poor sanitation “is a challenge in the district, and though the Assembly is facing financial difficulties, we have budgeted for the evacuation of all refuse dumps in the area this year.”
He said the Assembly is working tirelessly to resolve such problems in the area in spite of financial constraints.
Mr Agyemang disclosed that the toilet project falls under the 1 million dollars per constituency initiative, under the Middle Belt Development Authority, and the Assembly is in contact with them for supervision before its completion and handing over.
