The Accra Circuit Court ‘4’ has directed a former fetish priestess, Patricia Asiedu, alias Nana Agradaa, to pay a fine of 3,000 penalty unites (GH?36,000). In default she will serve three years imprisonment in hard labour.
Nana Agrada, who is also known as ‘Abozigi’ was further fined GH?10,000.00 or serve one year imprisonment should she default.
The court, presided over by Emmanuel Essandoh, said the two punishments are to run concurrently, hence the now Evangelist Patricia Asiedu would have to pay the highest fine, GH?36,000 per the court principles.
According to Mr Essandoh, the fines are in respect of two charges – charlatan advertisement and operating electronic service without license. The convict pleaded guilty to the charges.
His Honour, reading the verdict on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 also said Nana Agradaa had paid off all arrears her television channels owe to the National Communication Authority (NCA).
Nana Agradaa informed the court, through her lawyers on May 13, 2021 that not only has she paid the arrears in full, but had also made two years advance payment in that regard to the NCA.
The Court also commented on how over the period, Nana Agradaa has shown remorse. Nonetheless, information gathered by The Chronicle indicates that Nana Agradaa, now a convict, met the terms of her sentence yesterday.
