The Kumasi Nursing and Midwifery Training College (KNMTC) has admitted a total of 482 students comprising 326 registered General Nursing students (46 males and 280 females) and 156 registered Midwifery students, for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The Principal, Dr. David Benjamin Sampson, disclosed this at the matriculation ceremony, which coincided with the Homecoming and Fundraising ceremony, to help raise funds for the infrastructure development of the College as it prepares for the 70th anniversary next year.

The Principal congratulated the matriculants for securing admission to the prestigious and second premier NMTC in Ghana and reminded them that their admission was not the end of their journey, but merely the beginning and a solemn covenant to accept the rights and privileges of being a student and the responsibilities that go with it.
The Principal acknowledged and appreciated the work contributions of the staff and management of the College and commended their sacrifices and vision urging them to remain committed and dedicated to their respective responsibilities towards the college to consolidate the foundation laid.
Dr. Sampson indicated that management had commenced an urgent rehabilitation and upgrade of the College’s critical infrastructure under which classroom blocks and students’ hostels among others would be rehabilitated to address the challenges of obsolete equipment, lighting and wiring system and lecture halls among others.
He explained that the restructuring has been necessitated because KNMTC established 70 years ago has not undergone any comprehensive rehabilitation or refurbishment.
The Principal said the vision goes beyond the main campus, disclosing that they are also shaping the future (two modern seven-storey classroom blocks currently under construction) of the College, with its new campus (5.3-hectare site) at Atwima Nkoranza in the Atwima Kwanwoman District, approximately 13 kilometres from the main campus at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
The Principal also disclosed that through the forward-looking vision of the government of Ghana, under the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Mahama Care Initiative, KNMTC has been specially chosen to offer three specialised Nursing programmes – BSc Critical Care Nursing, BSc Cardiology Nursing and BSc Endocrinology Nursing.
Dr. David Benjamin Sampson appealed to corporate institutions, philanthropists, business leaders, NGOs, foundations and alumni year groups to support signature projects that will leave a lasting legacy.
