He said one of the areas the church sought to give critical attention to, was the chieftaincy institution.
“It is the soul of our nation. It has over centuries successfully provided a scope for a well-coordinated leadership for our Ghanaian society, especially at the community level,” he said.
He further said chieftaincy would continue to be one of the most respected institutions in the various communities.
“The culture, tradition and governance system of the community revolves around the chieftaincy institution and as a church, we believe that our ability to influence this all-important institution will give us some inroads in our quest to bring transformation to our society,” he said.
“Under the Vision 2023 agenda therefore, a number of new ministry interventions have been introduced, with others realigned, with the objective of harnessing our strength towards possessing the nation’s agenda,” he said.
Apostle Nyamekye was optimistic that through the ministry all traditional leaders, royals “shall come to the saving knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.”
“We believe that with the God-given wisdom and abilities that you are endowed with, this committee will be able to help the church to possess our palaces for the Lord,” he said
Reverend Dr Oponi-Frimpong, former General Secretary of Christian Council commended the Church of Pentecost for taking the step in bridging the gapbetween Christianity and culture, adding that tradition and culture over the years had been seen as evil which needed to be changed.
“It is time we extend the church to the palace if not the church will remain alien because the heart of Ghanaian culture is not about politics or any other thing but it is in the palace,”
Preaching the sermon, Apostle Julius Asante-Ayeh urged Christians not to see chieftaincy as fetish, “Let us step into the palaces and work with the leaders to effectively work for the development of our nation.”
Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V, Chairman of the committee on behalf of the members, thanked the church for recognising traditional leaders and their roles in the development of the church and the country at large.
