Every year has its own rhythm. Some move gently, others arrive with cymbals and drum rolls. 2025 was unmistakably loud, busy, demanding and deeply rewarding.
As this becomes my final column for the year, it feels only right to pause, lower the microphone slightly, and reflect before the lights dim for the festive break.
One of the most significant chapters of 2025 was closing a door that had been open for a long time. After four years and well over 1,000 episodes, I stepped away from the GTV Breakfast Show.
Morning television teaches you discipline like nothing else. You learn to be alert before sunrise, curious before caffeine, and calm even when breaking news decides to arrive five minutes before airtime.
More importantly, it sharpens your communication instincts. When you speak daily to a nation, you learn quickly that clarity is not optional, empathy is not weakness, and preparation is the quiet engine behind confidence. I leave that chapter grateful for the viewers, the conversations, and the team that made early mornings meaningful.
Beyond the studio lights, 2025 was also rich with corporate stages across sectors. From conference halls to ballrooms, commissioning ceremonies to leadership summits, I had the privilege of hosting events where ideas, capital, policy, and ambition intersected. Corporate events are fascinating mirrors of leadership: how organizations manage time, tell their stories, and respect their audiences often says more than any annual report.
Then there were the conversations, long-form, thoughtful, sometimes challenging on my podcast. Speaking with leaders, creatives, policymakers, and change-makers reminded me why I love interviews. When people feel safe enough to be honest, insight flows freely. In a world addicted to soundbites, depth still matters.
None of this happens in isolation.
Behind every smooth broadcast, seamless event, and meaningful interview is a team often unseen, always essential. Producers who think three steps ahead. Technical crews who solve problems before anyone notices them. Event planners, production assistants, communications teams, and creatives who understand that excellence is rarely accidental.
To every team I worked with in 2025: thank you. Your professionalism made my job easier, my work better, and my learning richer.
And to you, the reader of this column, thank you for staying with me through these daily reflections on communication, leadership, media, events, and the human moments that connect them all. Writing On Cue has been both a responsibility and a joy. In business and finance, we often focus on numbers, projections, and outcomes. But behind every spreadsheet is a story, and behind every decision is a communicator.
As the year winds down, I hope you find time to rest, not just physically, but mentally. To celebrate wins, forgive mistakes, and reset priorities. Leadership is not only about momentum; it is also about renewal.
I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas filled with warmth, laughter, and perspective, and a Happy New Year that brings clarity, courage, and growth. May 2026 reward preparation, integrity, and bold but thoughtful leadership across our continent.
God willing, On Cue with Kafui Dey returns on Thursday 8th January 2026, refreshed and ready to continue the conversation.
Until then, wherever the season finds you, on stage, in the boardroom, in transit, or finally at rest, thank you for reading, thank you for engaging, and as always…
Stay On Cue.
