Heart of Lions are through to the Round 16 stage of the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup campaign after seeing off Na God FC with a 2-0 victory despite their struggles in the Ghana Premier League.
The Ghana Premier League side faced off against the lower division club on Wednesday, in the Round of 32 stage of the competition.
In a game played at the Kpando Sports Stadium, Heart of Lions had a brilliant start to the contest and took the lead through Ismail Abambila after just 13 minutes into the first half.
Na God FC, after going behind, showed intent in their play by mounting a series of attacks in their bid to restore parity to the game.
After a brief spell of dominance, Heart of Lions took control of the match and ensured they held their narrow lead at halftime.
Shortly after the second half resumed, the Premier League outfit doubled their lead after a very good team play in the 56th minute. This time around, it was Moses Ayidem who scored the goal.
Despite the best efforts of Na God FC, the team could not overturn the deficit and crashed out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 defeat.
The win over Na God FC not only secures a place for Heart of Lions in the Round of 16 but also boosts the team’s morale heading into Week 18 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.
Winless in their last five league matches, Lions will be aiming for victory when they take on Dreams FC on Sunday, January 11.
