Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo has described his move from Bristol City to Manchester City as something he could hardly have imagined earlier in his career.
The 26-year-old revealed that during his formative years, his focus was solely on establishing himself in the Championship side and securing regular first-team action.
Reflecting on a 2018 clash between Bristol City and Manchester City, Semenyo said watching stars such as Kevin De Bruyne and Vincent Kompany left a lasting impression.
At the time, he never envisioned stepping onto the Etihad pitch as one of City’s own.
“I was at that match [Bristol City vs Man City, 2018]. Kevin De Bruyne, Vincent Kompany, yeah, I remember that was a great game. Did I imagine playing for a team like City at that point? No. I think I was very realistic,” he said.
“I was just kind of like, solidifying myself in the first team [at Bristol City]. I was trying to work hard and make sure I'm the first name on the team sheet⦠I didn't really think that far ahead,” he explained.
Following the move to Manchester City in January 2026, Semenyo has scored four goals and provided one assist in five games.
