We want to make a statement against Austria - Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo

Black Stars forward Antoine Semenyo says they are aiming to win their upcoming friendly game against Austria.

The West African country will come up against the European side in a pre-World Cup preparatory game on Friday, March 27, at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.

Speaking ahead of the game, the Manchester City forward said he is hoping they win the game.

"Hopefully, [I'm] expecting a win. We want to make a statement: we are preparing for the World Cup, so hopefully a win," the 26-year-old said.

Kick off for the game is scheduled for 17:00 GMT.

After the game against Austria, the Black Stars will make a trip to Germany for a friendly game slated for Monday, March 30, in Stuttgart.

The Black Stars are aiming to leave a positive mark at the World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico this summer after back-to-back group phase elimination in 2014 and 2022 in Brazil and Qatar, respectively.
