Co-chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption, Edem Senanu has lamented the rate at which impunity among duty-bearers is increasing in Ghana.
He observed that Ghaa is going through a period where authorities are not held liable for the wrong actions they take in office.
He was commenting on the full report of the agreement between the Ghana Revenue Authority Authority (GRA) and the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) that as release by the president yesterday, Wednesday May 22.
The report mentioned among other things that the GRA entered into six service agreements with SML without gaining approval form Public Prpcurement Authority (PPA) contrary to the Public Procurement Act.
It also said there was no evidence of parliamentary approval for the award of a multi-year contract. Similarly, there was no evidence that contracts in 2018 and 2019 were submitted to the GRA board for consideration and approval.
Speaking on this matter on the Ghana Tinight show on TV3 Wednesday May 22, Senanu said “This is impunity at the highest level, if the GRA which should know better can choose to hive off important responsibilities and make sure that somebody is being paid for it without going through due process.
“I think that we have been going through a period where a lot of things have happened and we haven’t held duty bearers accountable. Who is being held accountable? Whose job is on the line? ”
