Black Queens Fall Narrowly To Cameroon, Must Win Final Game

Ghana’s Black Queens slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Cameroon in their second Group C match at the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday, leaving their qualification hopes hanging in the balance.

The Black Queens made an encouraging start, controlling possession and showing confidence in attack during the opening stages. However, Cameroon broke the deadlock in the first half after converting a penalty to take the lead.

Coach Kim Lars Björkegren’s side returned from the break with renewed determination, pressing high and creating several promising chances in search of an equaliser.

Despite their sustained attacking efforts, the Queens were unable to breach a disciplined Cameroonian defence.

Ghana remained organised at the back and prevented Cameroon from extending their advantage, but the solitary first-half penalty proved decisive as the Indomitable Lionesses claimed all three points.

The Black Queens thought they had equalised through Evelyn Badu’s 79th minute goal but it was chopped off for an offside in the buildup to the goal.

The defeat means the Black Queens must now deliver a positive result in their final Group C match to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive.
