English-Ghanaian midfielder Hiram Boateng was on the scoresheet as York City thrashed Braintree Town 5â0 at the LNER Community Stadium, further underlining his growing influence in a rampant Minstermen side.
With York already three up thanks to an Ollie Pearce brace and a tidy Greg Olley finish, Boateng arrived in the box to make it 4â0 on 28 minutes, capping a sweeping move that sliced through a shellâshocked Braintree defence. He later made way for Daniel Batty midway through the second half to a warm reception from the home crowd.
Pearce completed his hatâtrick just after the hour to round off a statement performance that keeps York firmly in the National League promotion conversation. Operating at the heart of midfield, Boateng once again provided control and drive; he now has 26 league appearances this season, contributing 2 goals and 3 assists in the 2025/26 campaign.
His blend of experience and composure has become vital in a team packed with attacking threats.
York’s attention now turns to a tricky away trip to inâform Solihull Moors at Damson Park, as they look to extend their impressive unbeaten run.
