The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is intensifying efforts to enhance the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and position it among the top leagues in the world.
The renewed focus comes in the wake of the league’s recent ranking at 100th globally by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS), a placement the GFA says requires context and careful evaluation.
GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum stressed that leadership is about addressing challenges and driving progress.
“Leadership is about solving problems. Despite the challenges, we remain focused on improving the Ghana Premier League and ensuring it is rated among the best in the world,” he told Citi Sports.
The Association is examining all areas of league development, including competition standards, visibility, stadium facilities, branding, and player welfare, to strengthen the league’s global standing.
By targeting these key areas, the GFA aims to create a product that not only meets international benchmarks but also attracts wider fan engagement and investment.
