Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has declared that his team is approaching its crucial Ghana Premier League clash against Heart of Lions with a winning mindset, despite historical challenges in Kpando.
Kotoko, currently third in the table with 45 points and eight behind leaders Medeama SC, travel to face the seventh-placed Lions on Saturday, January 31, in a Week 21 matchup.
The Porcupine Warriors are looking to build on momentum from their last outing, a 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars that ended a run of two draws and a loss.
"We are going in with a present situation to go and win," Zito stated, emphasising his team's focused and positive mentality ahead of the fixture.
The win against Holy Stars was notably powered by striker Albert Amoah, who marked his return to the club after a stint in Libya with a goal and an assist on his debut.
Zito's comments signal an intent to overcome past difficulties at the Kpando Sports Stadium and secure three vital points to keep pressure on the teams above them in a tightly contested title race.
The match represents a significant test for Kotoko's championship credentials as they aim to close the gap at the top of the table.
