Nations FC head coach Frimpong Manso has indicated that his side’s MTN FA Cup quarter-final victory against Berekum Chelsea over the weekend did not come easy.
The gaffer and his outfit faced off with their fellow Premier League opponent on Sunday at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park to battle for a place in the semi-finals of the cup competition.
After a goalless stalemate in regulation and extra time, the contest had to be settled from the penalty spot, with Nations FC securing a 4-3 triumph to eliminate Berekum Chelsea.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Frimpong Manso acknowledged the difficulties his players faced, adding that he felt his team should have gotten the job done in 90 minutes.
“Yeah, I think it was, it was a very good game. But every cup, you know, you cannot predict; sometimes around that, I think we should have maybe won during the regulation time, but all the same, we expected that is going to be difficult. So yes, the win is the most important thing for us,” Manso told Nations FC.
The coach continued, “Sometimes it's like that. But of late, maybe we thought we had solved all those problems, because in our last three games, we scored about six goals. So, coming into this game, we thought we were going to have the goals flowing, but all the same. Yes, our opponent also played well. So, it's not a game that you can say we're going to work them out. Yeah, for me, I think, although we won on penalties, but I'm satisfied.”
Now in the semi-finals, Nations FC will take on fellow Premier League side Aduana FC, with the game scheduled to be played in April.
