Marvin Senaya has officially reported to the Black Stars camp in Vienna, committing his international future to Ghana and ending a heated nationality battle between Ghana and Togo.
The AJ Auxerre defender linked up with his teammates on Monday as preparations intensified for Ghana's upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany.
The 25-year-old's decision follows a dual call-up that sparked widespread debate. Togo head coach Patrice Neveu had earlier named Senaya in his squad and claimed the player had given a verbal assurance to represent the Sparrow Hawks. The claim was influenced by Senaya's backgroundâhe is the son of former Togolese international Yao Mawuko Senaya.
However, Ghana's football authorities succeeded in securing his allegiance, with the player opting to represent his maternal heritage.
Senaya shared his excitement on social media, expressing pride and happiness over his first invitation to the national team while affirming his readiness to contribute.
The defender has made 20 appearances and scored once for AJ Auxerre this season. His presence in camp confirms his full commitment to the Black Stars, putting an end to all uncertainty surrounding his international allegiance.
Ghana will face Austria in Vienna on March 27 before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany three days later in crucial World Cup preparation matches.
