Ibrahim Tanko has expressed his disappointment after Medeama SC surrendered top spot in the Ghana Premier League to Bibiani Gold Stars, describing the setback as painful.
The Yellow and Mauves had held onto first place for several months, but their grip on the summit slipped at the end of Week 26 following a difficult run of form. A 2-1 defeat to Dreams FC ultimately proved costly, extending Medeama’s winless streak to six matches.
Speaking ahead of his team’s next match against Eleven Wonders, Ibrahim Tanko noted that it is painful his team has lost first place on the league table.
“It’s very painful that we have lost the first position to Bibiani Gold Stars. If you look at our match against Dreams FC, we started the game very slowly. I think after 20 minutes we came in strongly, and in the second half we were the better side,” Tanko told Medi TV.
He added, “It’s unfortunate that we lost 2-1, but I think we have to put it behind us. We still have eight games to play, and so we have to concentrate on that one.”
Despite the setback, Ibrahim Tanko remains focused on turning things around as Medeama prepares for their next fixture against Eleven Wonders.
The match is scheduled for Friday, March 27, at the TnA Stadium, where the coach will be aiming to guide his side back to winning ways.
