Asante Kotoko interim coach Prince Yaw Owusu has admitted that the signs of defeat were evident even before kickoff, following his side's disappointing loss to Samartex.
Speaking after the game, Owusu expressed frustration over how events unfolded, revealing that preparations did not go according to plan.
"I think everyone saw it; it was obvious. I felt really bad after the game, and it actually started from yesterday. The way we wanted to approach the game didn't go as planned, so I could see it coming. We tried to prevent it, but we couldn't," he said.
Owusu pointed to a breakdown in tactical discipline as a key factor behind the defeat, noting that the players failed to execute the game plan as intended. The result is a significant blow to Kotoko's title ambitions, raising concerns about their chances in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.
When asked whether the title race is slipping away, Owusu remained cautious but hopeful.
"It looks like it, but I'm not sure. We will try and fight back."
Kotoko will now be under pressure to respond strongly in their upcoming fixtures as they attempt to keep their title hopes alive. The Porcupine Warriors have struggled for consistency this season and face an uphill battle to close the gap on league leaders.
