Former Ghana international David Accam believes the Black Stars' second-half performance against Wales provided encouraging signs ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite the team's late collapse in Cardiff.
Ghana were held to a 1-1 draw at the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday after Lewis Koumas struck three minutes into stoppage time to cancel out Caleb Yirenkyi's opener.
The Black Stars looked much improved after the break, with several substitutes making a positive impact as head coach Carlos Queiroz shuffled his pack.
Speaking on Joy Prime after the match, Accam said Ghana's display in the second half was a significant improvement on what was seen before the interval.
"I think the second half was a much, much better performance compared to the first half. Most of the boys came into the game and brought their A-game, and it gives the coach a headache because we saw what he was trying to do."
The former winger noted that Queiroz's changes achieved their intended purpose, with a number of players strengthening their case for a place in the starting lineup ahead of the World Cup.
"He was trying out other players to see what they could offer the team. So, it looks like some of the fringe players showed that they are ready to start."
Ghana's substitutions proved influential, particularly Ernest Nuamah and Yirenkyi, who combined to help the Black Stars take the lead in the 66th minute.
Although Wales snatched a late equaliser, Accam believes the performance offered enough positives as Ghana continue preparations for their Group L campaign against Panama, England and Croatia.
