Ghana winger Kamaldeen Suelemana has expressed gratitude to Ghanaians while also picking lessons from a tough FIFA World Cup.
The Atalanta forward started Ghana's first game against Panama before he was dropped to the bench in subsequent games after an uninspiring performance.
For the Right to Dream Academy graduate, it was his third senior tournament with the national team, his second World Cup, but he is yet to convince fans anytime he wears the Black Stars jersey.
Despite his struggles with the national team, Sulemana believes the experience from North America will make him and the rest of the team better.
"Very grateful and honored to represent the motherland on the global stage again. It’s a privilege I will never take for granted," he posted on social media.
"We know what football means to the Ghana, and we gave it our all to make the country proud and give Ghanaians something to cheer for, especially during a period when many are going through difficult times. Unfortunately, we fell short, but we will learn from this experience to work even harder and do everything we can to give something special back to the people of Ghana.
"I’m very grateful for the support & love that all Ghanaians have shown, both directly and indirectly. There are many lessons learnt, but also moments we can be proud of. FOREVER GRATEFUL. God bless Ghana."
Sulemana will return to Ghana to begin his vacation before leaving for Italy for pre-season with the Bergamo-based club.
