Medeama mutually part ways with defender Kofi Asmah ahead of new season

Ghana Premier League side Medeama Sporting Club have mutually parted ways with defender ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 football campaign.

The 23-year-old enterprising centre-back leaves the Yellow and Mauve outfit after almost five year spell at the club.

“Medeama Sporting Club and Kofi Asmah have mutually agreed to part ways. We thank Kofi for his service and wish him the very best in the next chapter of his career.” Wrote the club.

The mutual termination allows both Medeama and Asmah to pursue new opportunities as preparations gather space for the upcoming campaign.

Asmah leaves the former Ghana Premier League champions after contributing to the club during his stint in Tarkwa. His departure forms part of Medeama’s ongoing squad restructuring ahead of the new season.

For Medeama, the focus now shifts to strengthening the squad as the club looks to mount another strong challenge in the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions. The club has been active in the transfer market in an attempt to build a competitive team capable of defending their league title and also making a strong impact in Africa next season.

Meanwhile, Asmah becomes a free agent and is expected to attract interest from clubs seeking to bolster their midfield options. With his experience in the domestic game, the midfielder will be hoping to secure a new challenge and continue his career elsewhere.

During his spell with Medeama, Asmah made 72 appearances across competitions, scoring five goals in the process.
