Ghana’s Black Queens players have reportedly raised concerns over outstanding bonuses and per diems owed to them during the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
According to Joy Sports, the players have accused the government of neglect and inadequate professional support during their campaign at the tournament.
The concerns reportedly include outstanding tournament bonuses and per diem payments, with the players seeking clarity and action from the authorities responsible for their welfare.
The development comes after Ghana’s quarterfinal elimination from the WAFCON following a 2-1 defeat to Malawi.
The Black Queens had taken an early lead through Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah but were unable to hold on, with Malawi completing the comeback to secure a place in the semifinals.
Ghana’s defeat ended their immediate hopes of qualifying for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup through the WAFCON, although they still have another route available through the African playoff.
The Black Queens are scheduled to face Cote d’Ivoire in the playoff on Thursday, with the winner progressing to the next stage of the World Cup qualification process.
The reported concerns over outstanding payments now add another issue for the team as they prepare for the crucial playoff encounter.
