Ashanti success reflected in 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship Best XI

The 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship Best XI has been announced after the 11-day Second Division youth competition concluded at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Friday, 4 September 2026.

Ashanti Region, who secured the title with a 4-3 victory over Eastern Region in the final, provide the largest contingent in the Team of the Tournament, with three players recognised for their performances.

Goalkeeper Kelvin Osei Owusu, defender Morgan Asenso and midfielder Issah Seidu were selected after helping Ashanti Region complete a successful campaign and claim the championship.

Eastern Region, who finished runners-up following the high-scoring final, have two representatives in the side. Right-back Inusah Tahiru and right winger Sammed Zakaria were rewarded for their displays throughout the competition.

Brong Ahafo Region also have two players in the Best XI. Frimpong Jnr and Osafo Antwi were included after producing performances that earned them places among the standout players of the tournament.

Central Region’s contribution consists of Prince Boateng and Desmond Korlettey. Korlettey was also named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after a series of impressive performances during the championship.

Teye Enoch represents Greater Accra, while Rashid Yakubu completes the selected XI for Upper East Region.

The selection highlights the quality of performances produced across the regions during the championship, with players recognised for their consistency, ability and influence in their respective teams.

The competition again served as an important platform for identifying and developing emerging Ghanaian footballers. Over 11 days, the young players competed in a demanding environment that allowed them to test their abilities against strong opposition and gain experience on a bigger stage.

Ashanti Region’s three selections, alongside the inclusion of players from Eastern Region, Brong Ahafo Region, Central Region, Greater Accra and Upper East Region, reflect the spread of talent on show during the tournament.

The 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship was staged as a showcase for the next generation of Ghanaian football talent, with the Best XI providing formal recognition for the players who made the strongest impression during the event.

Ashanti Region’s title-winning campaign ended with a narrow but entertaining victory against Eastern Region, and the final result was followed by the announcement of the tournament’s leading individual performers.
