Ghanaian midfielder Christopher Bonsu Baah played a key role as Al-Qadsiah beat Al-Ahli 3-2 in a Saudi Pro League thriller at EGO Stadium in Dammam.
The 21-year-old set up Mohammed Abu Al-Shamat’s goal in first-half stoppage time, helping Al-Qadsiah race into a commanding lead before the interval.
Tijjani Reijnders opened the scoring in the 14th minute from a Musab Al Juwayr assist, and Abu Al-Shamat doubled the advantage in the 45th minute after Baah’s contribution. Reijnders then struck again in the 45th minute of added time to make it 3-0 at the break.
Al-Ahli fought back through Ivan Toney, who scored twice in the second half, but the hosts held on despite late pressure and six minutes of added time. Baah had a solid performance on the right side of midfield.
The result keeps Al-Qadsiah in 2nd place in the Saudi Pro League standings and underlines their strong start to the campaign. They will next face Al-Ettifaq in the Saudi Pro League on September 11, a match that offers another chance to build momentum.
