Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has backed his team to kick off their 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season with a win when they take on Vision FC this weekend.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Tanko bemoaned the team’s elimination from the CAF Champions League, stressing that they must now focus on challenging for both the league title and MTN FA Cup.
He is confident that his players have put the Champions League disappointment behind them and they will fight for a win against Vision FC.
“I think the Premier League is a different tournament, or it's a different league altogether. So definitely, we are preparing like any other game. I mean, we have been through last season. We saw how every venue is difficult to play in, but I think we are doing everything possible so that we will have our results,” Tanko told Medi TV.
The Medeama SC boss continued, “I mean, so far so good, and after being out of the Champions League, definitely we came back to concentrate on our league. I mean, so far so good. The training is going well. I mean, we have to do a lot of psychological talk with the players, and I think everything is fine.”
Medeama SC will begin the new league season with an away trip to Tema on Saturday, September 19.
The team will lock horns with Vision FC at Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in a game scheduled to kick off at 3 pm.
