Ghana’s Black Starlets have arrived in Rabat ahead of their first international friendly against Morocco as preparations intensify for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U17 Championship.
The Ghana U17 team landed in Casablanca at about 10:30am on Thursday after departing Accra earlier in the morning before travelling onward to Rabat, where they will be based during their stay.
Coach Kassim Mingle and his technical team are expected to begin work immediately, with the players scheduled for a recovery training session on Thursday evening.
The session will help the squad recover from their journey while allowing the technical team to begin preparations for Friday’s opening test against the Morocco U17 side.
The friendly will give Mingle an opportunity to assess his players against strong opposition and further develop the tactical approach he intends to use at the regional tournament.
Ghana are scheduled to face Morocco twice during their stay, with a second friendly planned before the team returns home on October 1.
The two matches form part of the Black Starlets’ preparations for the WAFU Zone B U17 Championship, where they will compete for a place at the 2027 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The regional tournament will serve as the qualifying competition for the continental championship, increasing the importance of Ghana’s preparations.
Mingle will therefore use the Morocco fixtures to evaluate his squad, build cohesion and identify areas requiring improvement before the competitive campaign begins.
