Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz has insisted that the Black Stars are not a problem despite the challenges facing the team ahead of Tuesday's 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against The Gambia.
Ghana go into the Group C encounter looking to recover from their 2-0 defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in Bouaké, with Queiroz acknowledging that his team has issues to address.
However, the Portuguese coach believes dealing with such challenges is part of the responsibility that comes with his role.
“We are facing a couple of challenges, a couple of problems, but Black Stars is not a problem,” Queiroz said at his pre-match press conference.
He compared the situation to challenges faced by professionals across different fields, stressing that the focus should be on finding solutions rather than viewing the team itself as a problem.
“Like in every single life, in the hospitals, in the workshops, in the army, in the industry, in business, we face challenges and our duty as professionals is to solve the problems.”
Queiroz says the current difficulties are simply challenges that must be addressed as Ghana continue their qualification campaign.
“So my final statement is yes, we are facing some challenges. That's the challenge that we have in front of us for Black Stars.”
The coach ended with a firm message about his belief in the national team.
“That's why we are Black Stars, but Black Stars was never a problem. Black Stars is not a problem, and Black Stars will never be a problem in the future.”
Ghana will host The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, with the Black Stars seeking their first points of the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
