The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly called A Plus, has said the hugely successful Gomoa Easter Carnival is not merely about entertainment but a strategic initiative aimed at driving development and economic transformation in the area.
Addressing patrons during the climax of the four-day festival, A Plus said the vision behind the event is to make Gomoa a household name across Ghana and attract both tourists and investors into the constituency.
“We are not doing this just for enjoyment,” he stated. “We are creating opportunities, opening doors and showing Ghana what Gomoa has to offer.”
His remarks came as the maiden edition of the carnival recorded massive attendance, drawing thousands of people from across the country and abroad.
Patrons flooded Gomoa throughout the Easter weekend, causing hotels and guest houses in the area to fill up while local businesses enjoyed increased patronage.

A Plus noted that the immediate economic impact of the carnival proves that strategic entertainment and tourism initiatives can help boost local economies.
He added that his long-term vision is to establish Gomoa as a business and tourism hub capable of creating sustainable jobs for the youth.
According to him, plans are underway to advocate for the establishment of a freezone enclave in the area to attract industrial investment.
He said such a move would unlock the economic value of Gomoa’s land and coastal resources while reducing unemployment.
The event itself was packed with major attractions, including one of the biggest durbars of chiefs ever witnessed in the area, with over 15 paramount chiefs participating in the grand traditional gathering.
The durbar celebrated the cultural heritage and unity of the Gomoa people and added a rich traditional touch to the festivities.
The entertainment lineup featured performances from some of Ghana’s finest musicians, including Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, Tinny, Kuami Eugene, Sista Afia and Obaapa Christy.
Thousands packed the Gomoa Ekwamkrom Community Park nightly as the artistes delivered electrifying performances.
With many describing the event as historic, A Plus said the carnival has laid the foundation for something that will become bigger every year.
“This is the beginning of a movement,” he said. “Gomoa is rising.”
