The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has suspended the gold trading licence of Dominic Bonsu Ventures with immediate effect over what it describes as breaches of regulatory requirements governing the country’s gold trading sector.
The suspension, announced in a notice issued by GoldBod’s Compliance Directorate, prohibits the company from engaging in the purchase, sale, aggregation, transportation or any other commercial transactions involving gold until further notice.
According to the Board, the decision followed its determination that Dominic Bonsu Ventures had breached the terms and conditions of its operating licence, GoldBod’s trading directives and provisions of the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
GoldBod further disclosed that it is seeking the proprietor of Dominic Bonsu Ventures as part of ongoing enforcement proceedings.
The Board stated that the High Court in Accra, acting on an application filed by GoldBod, had issued a bench warrant for the arrest of the proprietor to facilitate the enforcement process and related criminal proceedings.
It said it was collaborating with the appropriate law enforcement agencies to execute the court warrant. As part of the enforcement measures, GoldBod directed all licensed gold buyers, aggregators, self-financing aggregators and licensed miners to cease all commercial dealings with Dominic Bonsu Ventures with immediate effect.
The Board cautioned that any individual or entity found facilitating or engaging in gold transactions with the suspended company during the period of the suspension would face regulatory and enforcement action under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
According to GoldBod, the latest action forms part of its broader efforts to strengthen regulatory compliance and sanitise Ghana’s gold trading industry by ensuring that licensed operators adhere strictly to the law and established trading directives.
The Board reaffirmed its commitment to promoting integrity, transparency and orderly operations within the country’s gold trading regime, stressing that effective regulation remains critical to protecting the sector from illegal practices and safeguarding Ghana’s mineral resources.
GoldBod urged all stakeholders in the gold value chain to comply fully with the directive and other regulatory requirements to avoid sanctions under the law.
It added that it would continue monitoring compliance across the sector and take appropriate enforcement action against any licensed operator found to be in breach of the Ghana Gold Board Act or directives issued by the Board.
The Compliance Directorate maintained that GoldBod remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of Ghana’s gold trading regime through robust regulation and enforcement measures.
