Morning Glory MCDC has donated more than 300 tables and chairs to five schools in the Krowor Municipality, as part of activities leading to its 30th anniversary celebrations in September.
The furniture, which the officials of the schools said was being replaced on its own campus, was handed over during an outreach exercise to SPMagna School in Nungua Zongo, Vivibon School in Nungua East Nkpor, Heritage School in Nungua West Nkpor, Fransland School in Nungua Buade and DRIS School in Nungua Buade.
Municipal education officials and teachers said shortages of desks and chairs remain common in many public and low-fee private schools, contributing to overcrowded classrooms and disrupting teaching.
Additional furniture can help improve classroom organisation, reduce congestion and allow students to focus better on lessons.
Reginald Isaac Appertey, campus head of the junior department at Morning Glory MCDC, said the donation formed part of the school’s community outreach as it approaches three decades of operation in the municipality.
Representatives of the beneficiary schools said the additional desks and chairs would ease pressure on existing facilities and improve student comfort, particularly in lower-primary classes where enrolment has risen in recent years.
Morning Glory MCDC is accredited by the Ghana Education Service (GES) and runs classes from crèche through junior high school.
