The last few years have experienced some turbulent labour front. Since 2006 - that is during the time of former President Kufour, the late President Mills to the time of President Mahama - labour unions such as the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), the Ghana Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), the  University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG), the Federation of Universities Senior Staff Association (FUSSAG), among others have taken turns on strikes.
