Chichi Yakubu
Ghanaian culinary expert and CEO of NyoNyo Essentials Ltd, Chichi Yakubu, has been honoured at the just ended 40Under40 Africa awards for her over a decade of experience in the culinary business.
The event is a continental platform dedicated to recognising and celebrating exceptional young African leaders who are driving innovation, building sustainable businesses, and contributing meaningfully to economic and social development across the continent.
Chichi has played a vital role in elevating Ghanaian food on both national and international platforms, blending traditional flavors with innovative culinary practices.
Receiving the honours, she expressed appreciation to the organiser of the award stating that the awards recognises her growth and journey in the culinary sector.
In an Instagram post she stated, “Honoured by 40Under40 awards Africa for my growth and journey. On a day that celebrates love, I got to celebrate purpose, partnership, and the dream we keep building at NyoNyo.
This one is for my grandmother, the woman who gave me the name NyoNyo and the love for food that started it all.
Thank you to my team for believing, building, and showing up for this vision every single day. And the vision remains the same. Authentic Ghanaian food. Rooted in flavor, art, and culture. Putting Ghana on the map one plate at a time.”
In 2015, Chichi launched NyoNyo Essentials, transforming her passion for cooking into a thriving business that champions local ingredients and culinary heritage. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree and an Executive MBA, equipping her with a unique combination of culinary expertise and business acumen.
Beyond entrepreneurship, Chichi is a committed mentor and advocate for youth development in the culinary sector. She partners with organisations like Future of Africa to offer internships and training programmes for underprivileged youth, empowering the next generation of culinary talent.
