Odwira Marks Two Centuries With Heritage Display

This year’s Odwira festival, marking 200 years of its celebration, was nothing short of spectacular as culture took centre stage.

Held on September 25, 2026, Okuapeman came together at Akropong for the historic Odwira Grand Durbar — a defining moment marking two centuries of Akuapem Odwira.

Under the rich colours of traditional regalia and to the powerful rhythm of drums, Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III, Paramount Chief of the Akuapem Traditional Area, sub-chiefs, queenmothers, elders and the people of Okuapeman gathered to pay homage, reaffirm their unity and celebrate the enduring traditions that have connected generations.

Organised under the theme, “200 Years of Odwira: Honouring Our Heritage, Securing Our Future,” the event was graced by high-profile personalities, notable among them former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Member of Parliament  for Damongo, Samuel A. Jinapor, among others.
