Ministry supports Task Force with a vehicle
Kumasi, Nov 9, GNA – The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has made available a Mitsubishi pick-up vehicle in support of the operation of a taskforce set up by the Association of Sand and Stone Contractors and Tipper Trucks Union in the Ashanti Region.
Mr Ntiamoah Peter Hodgson, Senior Principal Inspector of Mines and Head of the Minerals Commission in the Region handed over the ignition keys at a ceremony held in Kumasi on Friday.
He underlined the government’s determination to tackle the havoc being wrecked on the environment through illegal mining and sand winning.
It would need to stop to restore some level of sanity.
He said he was confident that the vehicle would help the taskforce to check the illegal activities.
Mr P. K. Donkor, a member of the taskforce, who received the keys, thanked the Ministry for the support.
It could only strengthen their resolve and motivate them to work harder to bring down the illegal mining and sand wining.
