95 percent of debris cleared at Melcom disaster site
Accra, Nov. 12, GNA – The Search and Rescue Team at the Achimota Melcom disaster site on Monday said that about 95 percent of the debris had been cleared and rescuers were likely to wrap up their rescue mission within the day.
The six-storey Melcom Shopping Mall, which collapsed last Wednesday, had claimed at least 14 lives whilst about 77 were rescued with varied degrees of injuries.
During a visit to the site, Ghana News Agency observed that some security personnel, personnel from the National Disaster Management Organization NADMO, volunteers and a few onlookers were still at the disaster site.
