Palestinian envoy to visit Beijing

Beijing, NOV. 21 (dpa/GNA) – An envoy of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is to visit China, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.   Bassam al-Salhi, secretary-general of the Palestinian People's Party, was scheduled to hold talks with Chinese officials from Thursday to Saturday on the situation in Gaza and the Palestinian bid for non-member status at the United Nations, ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said.   China has supported efforts to broker a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and backed related diplomacy by Egypt and the Arab League.   Hua said China supported the "necessary action taken by the international community, including the UN Security Council."
