Union Berlin defender Derrick Kohn has declared his readiness to play against Germany in the friendly game scheduled for next year.
Ghana will face the 2014 World Cup champions in Stuttgart on March 30 as part of their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Having made his Ghana debut against Japan in the Kirin Cup, the promising left back is aiming to feature against the country where he has spent his entire life.
According to him, he is eager he is to have Ghana fans in attendance.
“I can’t wait [friendly against Germany]. I was texting the team manager of Black Stars, if I’m in the squad, please, I need 100 tickets. I need a lot of tickets," he told 3Sports.
Kohn also highlighted the strong interest from his friends and contacts in Germany, emphasising the personal significance of the match:
“The whole of Germany is texting me like, please, if you can make it happen, we’re going to come. But I know when I’m there, for sure I knew the German guys would come and I want to show them that Ghana is there.”
The friendly is not just another match for Kohn; it represents a dream opportunity to prove himself against top-level competition while building team cohesion ahead of the World Cup.
“That’s why I’m so powerful that we try to beat Germany. This is also one of my dreams. But it’s going to be a good game. Let’s prepare well for the World Cup, have a good game, and then we will see what happens.”
Köhn has enjoyed an impressive start to the ongoing 2025/26 season, making 15 appearances for Union Berlin and establishing himself as a key figure in the squad and will hope to make the final squad for the tournament.
