Nations FC were held at home by a stubborn Karela United to conclude the first round of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League in competitive fashion.
The host missed the chance to secure victory at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex after missing a penalty in the second half.
In a keenly contested game, the host came close early through a free kick which was blocked by a Karela wall. A few minutes later, Karela United responded through a corner kick, which was cleared by the defence of Nations FC.
With both sides failing to take their chances, the tempo of the match began to wane down as the referee ended the first half.
After the break, Nations FC began to ask questions and, after a spell of dominance, earned a penalty which they failed to convert after a heroic save by Ganiu Mohammed.
Karela maintained their composure, defending resolutely despite facing a hostile reaction from Nations FC’s fans.
As the clock ran down, the hosts pushed forward with hopes of a late winner, but Karela responded well.
