Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has described the Black Stars’ upcoming group-stage clash with England at the 2026 World Cup as a thrilling encounter.
Ghana will face the Three Lions on June 23 at Gillette Stadium in their second Group L match.
Kingston told SuperSport Blitz that the game promises to test the team’s mettle.
"These are games; I believe the players will be ready for that. Most of the players look up to them, and they play just like the English team, so it will be a tough one and an exciting one as well," he said.
Kingston also warned against underestimating Panama, Ghana’s opening opponents.
"Everyone is looking up to the game against Panama, but we should not underrate them. Everyone, I believe, is looking forward to these kinds of games, but these teams are such that they work hard," he added.
The Black Stars’ Group L fixtures are as follows: against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, England on June 23 in Boston, and Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
After early exits in both the 2014 Brazil and 2022 Qatar tournaments, Ghana will aim to make a deeper run in the expanded 2026 World Cup.
