Ghana will target the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title, according to Football Association president Kurt Okraku, following the final draw held on Thursday in Rabat.
Okraku said the time had come for the Black Queens to lift the continental trophy for the first time, after finishing third at the last edition in 2025, also hosted in Morocco.
The CAF vice-president was present at the draw, which placed Ghana Black Queens in a challenging group alongside Cameroon, Cape Verde, and Mali. The tournament is scheduled to begin in March.
Speaking to reporters after the draw, Kurt Okraku reiterated Ghana’s ambition to go all the way, having previously finished runners-up on three occasions in 1998, 2002, and 2006.
“The ambition of the nation is to win the WAFCON trophy, and I believe we are not far away from achieving that,” Okraku said.
“On the back of Ghana finishing third at the last WAFCON, we should be ready to face any opponent. If you want to become champions, you must be prepared to play against any team on the African continent.”
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will run from March 17 to April 3. Ghana will be based in Fes for the duration of the group stage.
