Karlsruher SC sporting director Mario Eggimann believes the club has found a timely answer to their defensive problems with the return of Ghana international Stephan Ambrosius.
With injuries depleting options at the heart of the back line, the 2. Bundesliga side have moved decisively to bring back a player who already understands the club’s demands and environment.
Ambrosius has joined Karlsruher on loan until the end of the campaign from Swiss Super League side FC St. Gallen, with an option to make the deal permanent.
Sporting director Mario Eggimann made no secret of the club’s confidence in the move, describing Ambrosius as “a real fighter” and “an ideal solution in the current situation.”
His arrival marks a second stint at the BBBank Wildpark, having previously featured for the German second tier club during the 2022â23 season.
The 27-year-old centre-back, capped at international level by Ghana, is expected to add much-needed steel, experience and leadership to a defence that has struggled for consistency.
Ambrosius is eligible to feature straight away and is set to be part of the squad for Karlsruher’s next assignment, an away fixture against Preuben on Saturday.
