Basake Holy Stars returned to winning ways in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday after defeating Bechem United 2-1 at the AAK II Sports Arena.
First-half goals from Prince Opoku and Sylvester Simba were enough for the hosts to end a run of back-to-back defeats in the Ghanaian topflight.
Although Augustine Okrah pulled one back for Bechem United in the second half, the Hunters could not leave with a positive result on the road.
In a quick start to the match by the hosts, Opoku broke the deadlock after just 15 minutes with a fine finish. The early goal gave the home side the edge as they became confident as the game wore on.
After missing a few chances in between, Simba gave Holy Stars the needed cushion at the stroke of halftime. Bechem United returned from the break determined to get back in the match.
Meanwhile, Holy Stars became resolute in defence at they stopped the attack of the visitors.
With twenty minutes left, Okrah pulled one back to put pressure on Holy Stars.
The ending minutes saw Bechem push more men forward, but they could not find the equaliser as Holy Stars stole all three points at home.
