Nations FC delivered a huge blow to Aduana Stars' Ghana Premier League title hopes after beating the visitors 1-0 at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Sunday, January 18, 2026.
The hosts maintained their unbeaten home record thanks to Joseph Effah's 20th-minute towering header.
Effah rose highest to head home Isaac Botchway's cross to beat Prince Osei, who was rooted to the spot.
Rabin Sanon denied Aduana’s Emmanuel Marfo twice before the break. Sanon first saved a one-on-one with the striker in the 26th minute and then from close range in the 41st minute.
The Fire Boys kept pushing for the equalizer as Charles Gyamfi Kamara's long-range effort was smothered by Sanon.
Both coaches brought on fresh legs as AristicÄ CioabÄ’s team searched for the equalizer and Frimpong Manso sought to protect his side’s lead.
Botchway came close to netting Nations FC’s second in the 87th minute but had his effort saved by Osei.
The win, which was their first in four league matches, moved the hosts from 13th to 11th in the league standings. Manso will aim for a strong showing when his team travel to FC Samartex in their next match.
Aduana are now eight points adrift of league leaders Medeama, and their title bid is as good as over. They will look to bounce back away to Swedru All Blacks in their next match.
