Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has revealed that discussions are ongoing with Austria over a potential friendly match for the Black Stars.
The senior national team, preparing for their fifth World Cup appearance, are gearing up for the 2026 tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
As part of their preparations, Otto Addo’s squad will face Germany in an international friendly on March 30 in Stuttgart.
Asante Twum confirmed that the GFA is exploring multiple friendly fixtures, with Austria among the prospective opponents.
"Austria is one of the teams we are talking to to play after the Germany friendly game, and hopefully, when the contract is signed, we will make it official to the public," he told Sporty FM.
Drawn in Group L, Ghana will kick off their World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, meet England in Boston, and wrap up the group stage against Croatia in Philadelphia on June 27.
Following early exits in the 2014 Brazil and 2022 Qatar tournaments, the Black Stars will be looking to make a deeper run in the expanded 2026 World Cup.
