CAF and FIFA instructor Thomas Nunoo has raised serious concerns over the standard of refereeing in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season. Officiating controversies have dominated headlines this term. Kotoko were denied a goal in their Matchday 19 clash with Bibiani GoldStars, while Young Apostles have threatened to boycott the league, citing unfair refereeing among other grievances. Speaking to Asempa FM, Nunoo described the performance of match officials as “worrying.” "The recent performance of our referees in the Ghana Premier League is worrying," he said. "We should not wait for the Review Committee to raise concerns, but we should be able to ask questions and make decisions. "Many of the decisions of some Premier League referees appear to be influenced by their positions," Nunoo added. In response, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to hold a meeting with match officials to address the issues raised and improve officiating standards.
