Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has dismissed suggestions that the club’s Ghana Premier League title ambitions are fading, insisting the race remains wide open despite recent setbacks.
Speaking after his return to Kumasi, the forward stressed that Kotoko still have sufficient time and quality to push for top spot as the season enters a decisive phase.
His comments come at a moment when pressure has mounted on the Porcupine Warriors following a run of unconvincing domestic results.
Amoah has rejoined Kotoko after a brief and closely scrutinised loan spell with Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi. His temporary departure followed the club’s painful exit from the CAF Confederation Cup, capped by a 5-1 defeat to Wydad Athletic Club.
In his absence, Kotoko have struggled for cutting edge in attack, registering goalless draws against Berekum Chelsea and Bibiani Gold Stars before suffering a narrow loss to Swedru All Blacks. Those results have heightened calls for greater efficiency in the final third.
In his first interview since returning, Amoah made his position clear. “It’s not over [the league title chase]. There are more matches to play. I think we are going to work very hard to make it to the topâ¦I am really happy to be here so that we work as a team to achieve what we want.”
Kotoko currently sit fourth in the standings with 32 points from 19 matches, level with Aduana FC and Hearts of Oak, and seven points adrift of leaders Medeama.
