Ghana’s Black Queens will begin their preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by taking part in the Pinks Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
The tournament, scheduled from February 28 to March 6, offers a competitive environment for the team to sharpen tactics, build match fitness, and assess squad depth ahead of the continental showdown.
The UAE-based competition features national teams from across the globe, with this year’s edition including Ghana, Russia, Hong Kong, and Tanzania.
It is widely regarded as a high-level preparatory platform, giving the Black Queens exposure to diverse playing styles and challenging match situations.
Coach Kim Lars Björkegren will use the tournament to evaluate both seasoned campaigners and emerging talents as he finalizes the squad for WAFCON.
The competitive fixtures are expected to test tactical combinations while allowing the coach to identify areas requiring adjustment ahead of the African tournament.
The Ghana Football Association says the team’s participation in the Pinks Ladies Cup reflects its and the Government’s commitment to providing optimal preparation for the national team, ensuring the Black Queens are fully equipped to challenge for top honours.
The squad for the UAE tournament is yet to be announced, but the team is expected to depart Ghana ahead of February 28.
