âFrancis Amuzu delivered a brilliant impact off the bench as Gremio edged a wild 5-3 thriller against Botafogo in Porto Alegre, showcasing his creativity with two second-half assists.
With Gremio trailing 2-1 at the break, the Belgian-Ghanaian winger came on in first-half stoppage time and immediately changed the momentum, first teeing up Carlos Vinicius to make it 2-2 just after the restart.
As Botafogo briefly restored their lead from the penalty spot, Gremio hit back again, and Amuzu was central to the comeback. He burst into space down the flank and supplied a precise ball for Tetê to slot home Gremio’s fourth, capping a devastating spell in which Vinicius completed his hat-trick and the hosts turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 advantage. Edenilson then added a fifth to kill the contest before Botafogo pulled one back late on.
In the 2025/26 Serie A season, Amuzu has now made 2 league appearances with 2 assists, underlining his value as a game-changing wide option.
Gremio will look to build on this attacking display when they host Novo Hamburgo in the Gaucho Playoff on Saturday, February 7.
